Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hoffman, age 63 years, of Enders, wife of Thomas J. Hoffman, who died 27 May 1941, were held in the Enders United Brethren Church Sunday afternoon and interment was made in the Fairview Cemetery, at Enders.
Survivors are her husband, and three sisters and five brothers: Mrs. Sadie Kitzmiller and Mrs. Emma Readinger, of Halifax, R. D.; Miss Maude Hoffman, and Samuel Hoffman, of Hummelstown; Harry Hoffman, Frank Hoffman, John Hoffman, and Daniel Hoffman, all of Halifax R. D.
Mrs. Hoffman had been a resident of Enders twenty-five years, and took an active part in social and church work of the community.
Rev. R. M. Wise, pastor of the Fisherville Lutheran Church, of which Mrs. Hoffman was a member; Rev. W. E. Sheriff, pastor of the Enders United Brethren Charge; and Rev. C. P. Wehr, D.D., of Elizabethville, officiated at the funeral service, and special selections were rendered by the choir of the Fisherville Lutheran Church.
For the text of his sermon, Rev. Wise selected the 15h verse of the 31st Psalm “My Times Are in Thy Hand.” Rev. Sheriff spoke of her social and church activities and her love for children, who always were welcome at her home, and to whom she proved a veritable ‘grandma.’ Dr. Wehr’s words were of comfort and hope, the hope of the Christian that never languishes or dies.
