Michael N. “Mike” Sabina was born 19 September 1921 in Williamstown, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He played for local teams, such as the American Legion, and in 1940 he was offered a contract to play in the Boston Braves (National League) minor league system. During that first year he was traded to the Philadelphia Athletics (American League) and then back to the National League with the St. Louis Cardinals. From 1941 through early 1943 he played with unaffiliated minor league teams. Later in 1943, he entered the farm system of the Detroit Tigers (American League), playing Level B baseball for them before being traded to the Boston Red Sox (American League) system where he completed the 1943 season. He spent the entire 1944 season in Level A and Level AA baseball in the Boston Braves organization. Following the 1944 season, he played for unaffiliated teams in the Southern Association and the Western International League before ending his baseball career in 1946 at the age of 24.
Primarily, he played infield positions of 3rd Base, Shortstop, and 2nd Base. His lifetime average in professional baseball was about .281.
