According to an article which appeared in the Elizabethville Echo, October 1, 1936, the Poultry Show was part of the annual Millersburg Farmer’ Fair:
Millersburg Farmers’ Fair Opens Today
The stage is set and everything is in readiness for the Millersburg Farmers’ Fair, which opens this Thursday evening. The fair will continue Friday evening and all day Saturday, of this week.
Free entertainment, such as has been rarely duplicated in this vicinity will be featured during the fair. This evening’s program will be headed by The Cowboy Caravan, a group of radio artist heard daily over Station WEEU in Reading. The Caravan will present two full hours of entertainment, at intervals, throughout the evening. On Friday evening, Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening, the chief attractions will be The Pennsylvania Corn Huskers, well known entertainers, and Prof. Pamahasika’s Trained Pet and Bird Circus, which appeared recently for a solid week at Hershey park. Band concerts and other amusements will also be included on the program.
There will be no admission charge to the fair, which will be held on Market Street, Millersburg, and no charge will be made for the entertainment. The performances will be given from large stages, equipped with amplifying systems.
Both sides of the street will be lined with booths containing concessions and displays of merchandise. Exhibits of products of farm and home will be displayed in the windows of stores on Market Street. Hundreds of dollars in premiums will be awarded for the best displays in each class.
In connection with the fair, a Poultry Show will be held in the garage at the rear of Hotel Gernert. Hundreds of birds will be on display and cash prizes will be awarded to the winners. There will be no admission charge to the poultry show.
The public is invited to spend this Thursday and Friday evenings and all day Saturday in Millersburg and enjoy the exceptional free entertainment, as well as the interesting and educational displays and exhibits.
