Moses Nutt was born in Speedwell, Burlington County, New Jersey, on 17 October 1819, the son of John Nutt and his wife Nancy. By the 1850 census, Moses Nutt had re-located to Wiconisco Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, where he was working as a forge man. At the time of the 1850 census, the Loyalton area was part of Wiconisco Township. Later, it was part of Washington Township.
During the Civil War, he served in the 173rd Pennsylvania Infantry, Company K, as a Private. See: Moses Nutt – Forgeman & Farmer.
Moses Nutt died 5 March 1891 and is buried at the Lykens Cemetery.
