A 1950 newspaper photograph of the new athletic field of Pine Grove High School, Pine Grove, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, dedicated on September 30, 1950.
Caption:
The picture above shows the playing field as viewed from the stands along the left field line on the western side of the stadium, showing the visiting dugout along the first base foul line, and scoreboard in right field. The scoreboard was erected through the courtesy of the Werner Lumber and Feed Company. Dedication ceremonies of the athletic field will take place in the high school auditorium due to the increasingly cold weather and early evening darkness. The public is cordially invited to attend and enjoy the well-planned program, during which the stadium will be officially turned over to the Borough School District by American Legion Post 374. The latter organization invested a substantial amount of cash to make the beautiful layout possible.
Pine Grove‘s veterans of all wars were honored at the formal dedication. The field was a gift of Pine Grove‘s American Legion Post 374. An appropriate program of dedication was presented in honor of all who served and died in the service of the country.
