The building at rear left was the Knauber Hotel and to its right is the Allars Hotel and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. On the near left is the home of George Griffith and Dora Griffith. On the near right, is the home of “Pappy” Renninger, who was the village shoe repairer. The two story build at rear right without windows was the ice house, where ice blocks obtained from local ponds was stored for use in summer.
