From the West Schuylkill Herald, June 17, 1921, comes this story of how officials tried to stop the popular nude bathing at Red Bridge, near Orwin, Porter Township, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania:
BATHING AT RED BRIDGE MUST BE STOPPED
Boys and young men who have been in the habit of using the stream at the red bridge, west of Orwin, as a swimming place will have to find some other pool to enjoy the sport. The stream is along side of a much used public highway. The bathers, dressed in Adam style, became so bold that the attention of Constable John Heartter of Porter Township, was called to the matter. He warns all persons caught bathing in the stream in a nude condition, that he will promptly bring prosecution.
