FUNERAL HELD TUESDAY FOR PAUL E. RUMMEL
Paul E. Rummel, 38, veteran of World War II, died at his home West Main Street, town [Elizabethville], Friday morning, following a brief illness.
Mr. Rummel was a son of Curtin E. Rummel and Emma [Warfel] Rummel and was a native of Wayne Township. He had been a resident of this community twenty five years.
Mr. Rummel was widely known as “Lefty” Rummel, having formerly been a pitcher on the Elizabethville baseball team.
During World War II he served with the Army in Europe, participating in the Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns.
Mr. Rummel was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Post 401, American Legion, and Post 6343 Veterans of Foreign Wars of Elizabethville.
Survivors are his wife, the former Miss Mildred Stambaugh of Gettysburg R.D.; two daughters Carolyn Rummel and Dorothy Rummel, both at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Curtin Rummel, Elizabethville; and one brother, Darwin Rummel of Progress.
Services were held from the Buffington Funeral Home at 2:00 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. W. Z. Artz, pastor of Salem, Lutheran Church, officiated and interment was made in Maple Grove Cemetery.
