FUNERAL YESTERDAY FOR P. C. ROMBERGER
Penrose Cyrus Romberger, age 74 years, died at his home in Harrisburg Saturday afternoon.
He was a son of Samuel B. Romberger and Sarah Jane [Brower] Romberger, and at the age of 11 years moved with his parents to Elizabethville where his father conducted a hide an tallow business for many years.
Mr. Romberger attended the West Chester State Normal School and taught in Lykens Valley schools. Later he became a partner in business with his father at Elizabethville.
Mr. Romberger served as postmaster at Elizabethville, and helped organize the First National Bank, serving as a director for a time.
In 1909 Mr. Romberger and his family moved to Harrisburg where he formed the partnership firm of S. B. Romberger‘s Sons Company. During the past twenty years his son, Austin I. Romberger, of Camp Hill, and John E. Witmer of New Cumberland, were associated with him in business. He was also interested in a number of other Harrisburg business enterprises.
Mr. Romberger was a member of the Ashlar Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons, of Lykens; Royal Arch Chapter, No. 21; Harrisburg Council, No. 7, Pilgrim Commandry; No. 11, Knights Templar; Harrisburg Consistory and the Zembo Temple of the Mystic Shrine.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Lillian E. Romberger; one son, Austin I. Romberger, Camp Hill; two daughters, Miss Nell J. Romberger and Miss Helen M. Romberger, both of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Private funeral services were held from the Baker Funeral Home, Harrisburg, at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Truman A. Crist officiated and interment was made in the East Harrisburg Mausoleum.
