A 1958 color photo post card view of the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad Terminal Building in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Travelers between Philadelphia and Lykens, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania once began or ended their journey here, but by 1958, there was no Reading Railroad service to Lykens, so Lykens Valley rail riders had to drive or take a bus to Pottsville, where diesel-car rail service was provided to Philadelphia. In 1981, the Philadelphia to Pottsville line was abandoned.
Note: Lykens was for a time the terminal on one of the Reading Railroad lines coming out of Philadelphia.
