A photograph taken in 1916 of a group of four men from Pine Grove, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, at Camp Stuart, El Paso, Texas. The men were part of Pine Grove’s Pennsylvania National Guard Company G which was mustered into Federal service and sent to the U. S.-Mexican border.
The four men pictured are: Major Phaon Sheidy; Captain Harry Schwalm; Rev. Harry Dollman, company chaplain; and Wayne “Pink” Zimmerman. All four men also served in World War I.
The photo was colorized from the black and white copy that appeared in the Pine Grove Press Herald, November 11, 1971, as part of its “Down Memory Lane” feature.
