A newspaper photograph of an undated post card view of the Pottsville Street railroad crossing, Pine Grove, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
The photo appeared in the Pine Grove Press-Herald, April 8, 1971 in its “Down Memory Lane” feature.
Comments with the photo:
This postcard with a May 25, 1909 Suedberg postmark, pictures the railroad crossing on East Pottsville Street, Pine Grove, which in the early part of the century boasted a gate-tender’s building and crossing gate. There is no evidence here of the Fox-Knapp Manufacturing plant and parking lot on the left, nor of Zimmerman’s Variety Store (Bill Burke, proprietor) on the right, which are located there now, and have been for a number of years.
