In 1897, a large one-story frame school was erected on the west side of Yohe Street in Reinerton and called the “Bearmont Building.” In 1911 , a second story was added and in 1912 this building became the Porter Township High School. It served as the township high school until the 1917 building was built on the south side of Grand Avenue in Reinerton. The principal in 1912 was A. T. Schwalm.
