A 1914 picture post card photograph of an unidentified young girl and a dog standing on the porch of a house. This card was sent to Mr. F. Klinger of Klingerstown, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, and was found loose in an album of Klinger family photos.
The card, according to the circular date stamp, was mailed from the town “-airbank-” on 25 January1914.
The message reads:
Dear Papa… we are all well and hope you are the same. From Francis.
If any reader can further identify the young girl, the sender, or the recipient, please do so by adding a comment to this post.
Francis Albert Klinger (1865 – 1942) was born in Klingerstown and moved to Fairbank, Iowa. His father, David Schwalm Klinger, was living with Francis’ brother, Alexander, in Klingerstown in 1910 and died in 1916 at age 89. I suspect that the card is picture of and written by Francis’ daughter, Frances M. Klinger (Corcoran), who would have been 7 years old when the card was written. Francis may have been back east visiting his aged father and family. Card looks like it was written by a child.
