From the Lykens Standard, January 19, 1906:
BAYARD TIMBER TRACT SOLD
The Bayard Timber Tract in Clark’s Valley, consisting of 4,000 acres, has been purchased by the Shamokin Lumber Company, which will commence sawing timber for the market early in Spring. A narrow gauge track will be run into Clark’s Valley and extended to the Dauphin Y along the Schuylkill and Susquehanna Branch of the Philadelphia & Reading Railway, a short distance east of Dauphin. A large sawmill will be erected at the Y near the railroad and first class machinery will be installed. The work will be in charge of W. P. Zartman, manager of the Zartman Lumber Company, Dornsife. Many orders have already been received for lumber, included in which is an order from the Swab Lumber Works, Elizabethville, for 200 acres of white oak.
It is not known whether this railroad was actually built.
