From a biography published as part of a Gratz history in 1997:
Calvin F. Kuder was born at Laurys, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, 10 April 1864. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Roanoke College, attended the Philadelphia Conference, and was ordained by the Ministerium of Pennsylvania at Pottsville, in 1891.
Rev. Kuder was married on 31 August 1891 to Mattie Ferguson at Salem, Virginia. Several days later on 2 September the couple sailed from Philadelphia and arrived at Rajahmundry, India on 14 November. While there, he served in Boys’ Central School and Bible School from 1892-1898. After that he came back to the United States on furlough. During a furlough interval, 1903-1906, he served as pastor of Simeon Church in Gratz.
In 1913, while in Telegu, he translated a church book. In 1916, he resigned from his missionary endeavors and settled in Yeadon, Pennsylvania, where he died, 8 September 1935.

REV. CALVIN F. KUDER
Rev. Calvin F. Kuder, for more than 20 years Lutheran missionary in India, died suddenly in St. Luke’s and Children’s Hospital, here. He was 71.
Dr. Kuder was well known in Pennsylvania, being a native of Laurys and holding pastorates in Elizabethville, Cunningham and Marietta. He attended Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia, and Mt. Airy Seminary. He retired to his home at 16 E. Providence Road, Lansdowne, five years ago. His widow, Mattie, and seven children: William F. Kuder, Janet H. Kuder; Theodore L. Kuder, and Howard F. Kuder, of Lansdowne; Edward M. Kuder of Jolo Sulu, P. I.; and Calvin F. Kuder, of Denver, Colorado, survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. tomorrow at 1820 Chestnut Street.
