Rev. Isaac Gerhart was born in Bucks County, near the present town of Sellersville, February 12, 1788. “During the summer of 1818, he was not able to preach more than once a day. Being much broken down, he found it necessary… to seek a field better suited to his limited strength…. He accepted a call from… Lykens Valley.”
Rev. Gerhart went from David’s to Frederick, Maryland, in 1848, and then to Manheim, Lancaster County. He resigned about 1856, and moved to Lancaster. For some years he served as president of the Missionary Society of the Reformed Church, and after his removal to Lancaster, he devoted all his time to that work. He died Saturday, February 11, 1865. He is buried in one of the Lancaster cemeteries.
