An undated photograph of the Rev. John W. Klinger family of Tremont, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. Pictured left to right are Rev. Klingler, daughter Carolyn Klingler, and wife Agnes Klingler.
Rev. Klingler was the minister of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Tremont. He died in Atlantic City, New Jersey, at the age 56 after spending five weeks in a sanitarium in Egg Harbor, New Jersey due to a complication of diseases.
Carolyn Klingler, also found in the records as Carolyn Klinger, after working for a time as a school teacher in Tremont, married Rev. I. Levan Zechman, a minister of the Reformed Church, who served congregations in the Lykens Valley, including Gratz and Elizabethville. See:
Included with the photo of Rev. Klingler and family, was an anecdote supplied by Mrs. Elsie Adams who once lived in Tremont:
How well do I remember the family as they had been neighbors ours in Tremont…. Rev. Klingler would enjoy the boys playing marbles outside Pappy Freeman’s store, and when the boys would use “big” words, Rev. Klingler would walk away and come back again.
