Martine Joseph served as pastor of Simeon United Lutheran Church, Gratz, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, from her ordination in 2012 to 2016. A brief biography of her appears on line from when she was a featured speaker at the Lykens Valley Camp Meeting, Elizabethville, Dauphin County, during her tenure as pastor in Gratz.
Pastor Martine Joseph grew up Pentecostal and transferred to the Lutheran tradition in 2008. She graduated from Howard University School of Divinity in Washington, D. C., and completed her Lutheran year at Lutheran Theological Seminary in 2010. She then moved to Raleigh, North Carolina for her capstone internship at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and worked under the supervision of retired Pastor David Sloop. During her matriculation at Howard University, she became a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force in the Reserve Chaplain Corps.
Pastor Martine is the only child of Paulette Joseph and Jean Luther Joseph. She has siblings that live in both New Jersey and Haiti on the paternal side of her family.
Pastor Marine felt her sense of calling in ministry during an internship at Martin Correctional institution, a men’s prison in Stuart, Florida. “I developed a passion to minister to the inmates and their families. It was a wonderful experience to see how God used the inmates to minister to me. I learned a lot about meeting people where they are, forgiveness, and seeing the image of God in people regardless of who they are, where one is located, and to look beyond the exterior.”
Pastor Martine enjoys a good, long distance run on her free time. She also enjoys reading, watching movies, listening to music, spending time with friends and families and catching up with them on Facebook and Twitter. She also loves to travel! Pastor Martine is currently serving at Simeon United Lutheran Church in Gratz.
