________________________________
Rev. William H. Miller was born December 15, 1870, near New Britain, Pennsylvania. At the age of twelve his mother died and his home was broken up. He then went to work as a “hired boy” in the neighborhood. With no one to encourage him in his desire to become a minister, he entered Ursinus Academy, and continued in his studies in Ursinus College, and the Lancaster Theological Seminary, from which he was graduated in 1901.
During his lifetime he served the following charged: Shelbyville, Illinois; Hamilton Charge, Pennsylvania; Hickory Bottom Charge, Pennsylvania; East Berlin, Pennsylvania, during whi8ch time he served as president of Gettysburg Classis; St. David’s Charge, during the disturbed years of World War I. From Killinger he went to ZIon’s Charge in Carlisle Classis, and then to Pavia-Blue Knob Charge in Juniata Classis. His last pastorate was the Federated Reformed and Lutheran Church in Fayette, New York.
He retired from the active pastorate in November, 1940, and moved to Lewistown. As long as his health would permit he did a great deal of pulpit supply work. He died December 24, 1949.
We are indebted to Mrs. William Miller for the above information. She is [on 1950] living in Lewistown.
