The following information was provided in the caption:
Lura W. Umberhauer was one of two teachers at the Rock Primary Schoolhouse in 1927. She recalls that her pay for teaching grades 1 to 4 was $90 monthly. The two-room schoolhouse was located along Route 895 close to the Rock Hotel. It is now [1977] the residence of Mrs. and Mrs. Ashley Aungst and Mr. and Mrs. John Fessler. James Fehr was the teacher for grades 5 thru 8. Today, Lura Umbenhauer resides with her husband Francis in RD4, Pine Grove.
