A 2016 photograph of the only surviving major building from the coal mining operations at the Short Mountain Colliery, Bear Gap, north of Lykens and Wiconisco, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
The building was erected in 1916 to replace shops that were destroyed in a fire. The colliery closed in the early 1930s and it has been used as shops or for storage by subsequent owners, or it has remained vacant for periods of time.
The current owner plans to convert the building into a private home. Since it is on private property, it is not accessible to the public.
