ABOUT THE COVER
Logo graphic designers: Janet Machamer and JoAnn Klinger
Logo graphic artist: Brenda Klinger
The logo design displayed on our front cover has been used extensively throughout the past year on various souvenir items such as shirts, mugs and coins. We thought our readers would enjoy a little background information.
The head of the Indian chief represents the township’s Indian heritage and the origin of the name “Wiconisco.” The coal car depicts its early economic dependence on the industry which thrived here for many years. The eagle (and the red and white color scheme) represents the mascot of the school during the time before the jointure of the Williams Valley School District.
And finally, the mountains shown in the background portray our location – nestled in the gap of the Short and Big Lick Mountains.
Wiconisco – 150 years old – has been home for many people with many ethnic backgrounds. Ours is a heritage for which we can be proud: hopefully the design helps to convey this message.
