Stephen B. Jury, age 56 years, died at his home in Millersburg, 6 July [1948], following a heart attack.
Mr. Jury was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Jury and was a native and lifelong resident of Millersburg. He had been an employee of the First National Bank of that town forty years, and was a teller at the time of his death.
Mr. Jury was a member of the Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church. He had served as a member of the board of trustees twenty-five years, was superintendent of the Sunday School twenty-five years and had been teacher of the Bible class thirty-five years. Mr. Jury also was president of the Dauphin County Sabbath School Association and secretary of the Albright Brotherhood of the East Pennsylvania Conference of the Evangelical United Brethren Church.
A member of the Susquehanna Lodge, F. and A. M., Millersburg, he was past master and formerly secretary of that lodge. At the time of his death he was secretary of the Millersburg Board of Health and the Lions Club. Mr. Jury had also been a member of the Board of Directors of the Tuberculosis and Health Society of Dauphin and Perry counties.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice [Lower] Jury; two daughters, Mrs. John A. Chamberlain of Metuchen, New Jersey, and Josephine Jury, at home; three drandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. George W. Wiest, Millersburg.
Services were held in Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church at 2:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon. The pastor, Rev. S. A. Sitler officiated, and interment was made in Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg.
