The campaign to eradicate smallpox continued in 1925 with strict vaccination rules issued to schools in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Heading up the County Board of Health was Dr. D. E. Hottenstein of Millersburg, who named deputies to revaccinate those who had previous unsuccessful vaccinations. Dr. Hottenstein also warned teachers and principals that the vaccination law must be observed and if they did not do so they would be subject to prosecution.
