A photograph of the original electrical plant at Sunbury, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, which was built in 1883.
The photo caption:
The original “Sunbury Plant” – World’s first three-wire electric light plant, designed and built by Thomas A. Edison in 1883 at Sunbury, Pennsylvania…. The early day Edison Company was one of the predecessor companies of Pennsylvania Power and Light Company. The PP&L has erected a replica of this historical building adjacent to [its] new [1950] plant office building. Lying close to the new generating station, the little red and white frame structure is in sharp contrast with the towering modern giant… dramatic evidence of the program and potentials of the electric industry.
