The message and address side of a picture post card mailed from Sunbury, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, to Reading, Pennsylvania, postmarked at the Sunbury Post Office on 1 July 1939, at 4 p.m. Sunbury was a major mail distribution center. At the time, the card would have first traveled directly east to Pottsville in order to get to Reading and thus would have avoided the Lykens Valley completely.
Mail sent south to the Lykens Valley would have traveled down the railroad toward Millersburg and then routed to its destination from there.
The addressee is Mrs. H. U. Miller and the sender is “Emma.”
