A 2003 view of what was once the farm of Edward Dietrich (1874-1948) and Jennie [Keiper] Dietrich (1876-1967) in Specktown, Lykens Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
In 2003, on her last trip to the Lykens Valley, while battling leukemia, Kathryn [Dietrich] Gasbarro, visited many of her old “haunts.” She had fond memories of Sunday dinners hosted by her grandparents at their farm. She and her parents and brother would walk across the fields to this location where Mammy Dietrich had a large meal prepared. The farm looked quite different in 2003 than it did more than 70 years earlier. The new owners renovated the house and built new barns. But Kathryn could still identify some of the things that had not changed.
