A photograph taken about 1915 of the Schuylkill County Prison’s last gallows which were dismantled on 27 March 1916 as a result of the commonwealth’s adoption of the electric chair as the mode of execution.
According to records, 17 men were executed by hanging between 1847 and 1911, six of whom were Molly Maguire convictions who were executed on 21 June 1877: Thomas Duffy; James Carroll; James Roarity; James Boyle; Hugh McGehan; and Thomas Munley. Another Molly Maguire, Jack Kehoe, was executed on 18 December 1878.

Jimmy Riggs, 13 August 1847; Joseph Brown, 24 March 1875; Dennis Donnelly, 11 June 1878; Martin Bergan, 16 January 1879; Peter Baranski, 23 October 1889; Harry Manfred, 7 August 1894; Thomas Brennan, 15 February 1900; Charles Warzel, 12 March 1908; Felix Radzius, 26 May 1908; and Joseph Christock, 3 March 1911.
