TWO MINERS LOSE LIVES IN ACCIDENT
Two men lost their lives, and a third was injured when a car in which they were being hauled to the surface, fell to the bottom of the slope, a distance of about two hundred feet.
The accident occurred at an independent mine operation in Bear Valley, south of Valley View, last Thursday.
The victims are Jacob Hentz, 29, of Valley View, father of two children; and Delbert Dunkelberger, 41, of Hegins R. D., father of five children.
William Boyer, 30, of Hegins, who sustained a broken leg and other injuries, was admitted to the Pottsville Hospital.
Albert Artz, of Hegins, saved himself by clutching a ventilator pipe, after leaping from the car.
The four men, along with Wesley Kehler, operated the mine.
The accident, it was reported, occurred when the winch broke at the drum and released the car.
