An undated machine photo of a young woman. Photo machines were found at places such as amusement parks and resort areas and, for a small price produced a strip of photos in several different poses. This photo was mounted in a small “frame” which had a mirror on the back. These frames were sold in shops that sold sundry items at or near the location of the photo machines.
Lydia Alice [Helt] Riegle (1883-1942) was born in Elizabethville, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, and died in Robesonia, Berks Co., Pennsylvania. When she died, a box of her personal photographs was given to her niece, Melva Sitlinger (1901-1985), and then passed down to the current generation. Some of the photos were identified, but many were not. Lydia was married to Norman L. Riegle (1886-1942), who was born in Specktown, Lykens Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. It is possible that many of the unidentified photos represent relations in the Lykens Valley area.
