A carte de visite produced around 1870 of an unknown young woman believed to be from Specktown, Lykens Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
This photograph was found in 1977 in the attic of the Riegle-Dietrich homestead in Specktown when family members were cleaning out the home in preparation for its sale, shortly after the owners, Helen Mae [Hoffman] Dietrich and William E. Dietrich moved to a nursing home in Middletown, Dauphin County. The photo was in a keepsake box that belonged to Hannah [Rickert] Riegle who was born in Specktown, the daughter of Martin Rickert and Betsy [Yerges] Rickert. Many of the photos in the box could be identified and were found to be of Hannah’s parents, her sisters, her children and their families, and of neighbors from the Specktown community. Some photos could not be identified. Hannah died in 1919 in the homestead, and from the appearance of the contents of the box, nothing had been touched or added to the box since her death.
Help is needed to identify the young woman in this photograph.
On the front of the photo there is an indication that it was taken at Kunkel’s Art Gallery, Lykens, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
