A view of the Victor E. Scheib farm, Lykens Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, taken in the 1890s. None of the members of the Scheib family have been identified.
This farm was owned by Joshua Scheib in 1875, and was 126 acres at that time.
A small cemetery, known as the “Victor Patch,” was located on this farm, where early settlers from the Osman family were buried, and later members of the William Vannerman family were buried. After the farm was purchased by Allen L. Schade, he allowed persons who called themselves researchers to remove the stones without properly marking their location. Amateurs attempting to restore the removed stones may have damaged them beyond any ability to identify the names and dates, although one of the stones appears to be for William Forneman (1785-1853) and another for Isaiah Osman (1769-1835). When last seen, the stones were in storage in the basement of a local historical society. The location of the Victor Patch on this farm is supposedly not marked.
This photograph was restored by Dr. John A. Romberger (1925-2014), who was the historian of the Romberger Family Association.
