MINER DIES AS RESULT FALL DOWN SLOPE
An independent miner who was injured in a 60-foot fall down a slope at Bear Valley mining operation Thursday, September 20 [1962], died in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, on Tuesday morning.
The victim was William Edward Klinger, 35, of Spring Street, Wiconisco.
Mr. Klinger was a native of Wiconisco, a son of the late Walter Klinger and Olive [Waters] Klinger. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, a member of Wiconisco VFW Post and Wiconisco Fire company.
Surviving are his wife, the former Louise Coles; six children, Judy Ann Klinger; Evelyn Klinger; William Klinger Jr., Dorothy Klinger; George Klinger, and Robert Klinger; one brother, Robert Klinger, Lykens; three sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Parsons, Pottsville; Mrs. Arlene Carl, Tower City; Mrs. Joyce Wheatcroft, Pontiac, Michigan.
Funeral services were held this morning from the Roy W. D. Schaffstall Funeral Home, 406 W. Market Street, Lykens. Rev. Carl E. Fetterhoff, Congregational Church, Wiconisco, officiated. Burial was made in Wiconisco Cemetery.
