A view of a modern home and barn that was built on what was in 1875, the farm of the Widow Schoffstall, Specktown, Lykens Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
Her husband, Jacob Schoffstall, born 1799, died 1858, and his widow lived here alone for several years afterward. However, the home shown in the aerial view (see link below) was eventually divided into two separate living quarters, with one area occupied by daughter Magdalena “Molly” Schoffstall (1833-1904) and her husband George W. Tschopp Sr. (1827-1900) and their children. After the Widow Sarah Schoffstall died in 1880, the Tschopp’s purchased the farm, but by 1892 sold it to Charles T. Phillips.
The farm of Sarah “Salome” [Paul] Schoffstall (1799-1880) was located north of Specktown Road, just west of Gratz [the gray area at the right side of the map] as shown on the southwest quadrant of the 1875 map of Lykens Township.
