An undated news clipping with line drawing representing the players of the Williamstown Baseball Club. Williamstown, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, the “Amateur Champions of Central Pennsylvania.”
Identified are:
Front Row (lying or sitting on ground): A. Hoffman; “Ivan”, mascot; George Adams.
Second Row (sitting): G. Hoffman; D. Hoffman; Bowman; G. Hoffman; C. Challenger.
Back Row (standing): J. Golden; J. Challenger; Riggle, manager; Watkins.
The story behind the new uniforms was as follows:
The accompanying cut shows the Williamstown Base Ball Club in their new “Press” uniforms, this team being the first to take advantage of “The Press” offer to furnish a complete set of suits free to amateur teams securing subscriptions for “The Press.” It took them less than a week to obtain the necessary number of subscribers. Williamstown is the recognized amateur champion of Central Pennsylvania and the boys expect to play better ball than ever this season.
