An undated photograph of Blanning’s Corner Store, J. Roy Blanning, proprietor, 100 E. Market Street, Williamstown, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
A brief description of this store was included in the Williamstown Sesquicentennial History, published in 1976:
After William Blanning… purchased the hardware business of Amos Lebo at 111 E. Market Street, and took possession of it in 1906, the stationery business at 100 E. Market Street (Blanning’s Corner Store) was placed in charged of his son, J. Roy Blanning. The store contained a stock of wedding, birthday, and graduation gifts, foreign and domestic post cards, cigars, fancy goods, books, toys, wallpapers, and sporting goods. The junior Mr. Blanning exerted every energy to provide the people of Williamstown with the best in this line and greatly increased stock, making the place the headquarters for everything in the sporting good line….
