SERVICES HELD SUNDAY FOR WAR VETERAN
Funeral services for Pfc. Fred J. Klinger, age 30 years, of Dalmatia, whose body was recently returned to the United States from the Pacific Area, were held from the Hoover Funeral Home, Dalmatia, at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. Charles A. Snyder, pastor of the Herndon Lutheran Parish, officiated, and interment was made in the Stone Valley Cemetery. Military rites were conducted by members of the Dalmatia American Legion.
Pfc. Klinger was a son of Penrose E. Klinger and Ida [Kratzer] Klinger, and was a native of Lower Mahanoy Township, Northumberland County. He was a graduate of the Herndon High School Class of 1932.
Pfc. Klinger entered the service 21 March 1942, and was killed in action on the island of Guam, in the Pacific, 3 August 1944.
He is survived by the following sisters and brothers, Mrs. Walter Henninger, Elizabethville; Mrs. Luther Smeltz, Gratz; Mrs. Harry Phillips, Dalmatia, R. D.; Mrs. William Yohe, Pillow; Mrs. Jacob Smeltz, Sunbury; Lee C. Klinger, Dalmatia; and H. A. Klinger, of Hickory Corners.
